Blessings, and Curses...

Ok, I'm sorry, it has been a while since I last posted a blog.  However, Team Glenney (The name that Jenn gave us, a while back.) has been busy living life the Team Glenney way.

My birthday week has come and gone.  I started the weekend on Friday afternoon with the Runners Expo for the Cox Providence Rhode Races at Rhode Island Convention Center on Friday May 4th.
I turned 43 years old on May 5, 2012, and celebrated at home with my Soulmate, Jennifer by my side, after the Cox Rhode Races 5K in Roger Williams Park, in beautiful Providence, Rhode Island.  I ran the race with a gun time of 33:06, and a net time of 32:35 (That is a 10 minute and 30 second per mile pace for the length of the 3.1 mile course.)  It was a very hilly course, but well worth the effort.  With a 5pm start, I came in 116 out of 176 males, 24th of 33 in my age group, and 214th overall out of 460 runners.  All in all, I enjoyed this race, and definitely will do it again.

A few weeks passed, and it was now time for another race.  This time with an 11am Sunday start here in my new Hometown of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  I ran the Navigant Credit Union Cherry Tree Running Festival 5K (Try to say that with a mouth full.  LOL) with a gun time of 31:17.3, a net time of 30:53.5 and was 29th of 47 in my age group, and 149th of 395 overall.  So, with 2 races under my belt in Lil Rhody, I have improved my time by a little over a minute and a half, and decreased my pace from 10 minutes 30 seconds to a little under 10 minutes at 9:58 per mile for a 5K course.

As well as the running, Jenn and I have been enjoying baseball at McCoy Stadium here in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  Yes, we are fans of the PawSox!  For a little background information, Jenn and I both work third shift.  She works here in Pawtucket, and I work up in Woonsocket, RI.  So, I drop her off, on the nights that we work together by 10:30pm.  And then I drive approximately 25 minutes up the Road, to clock in by 11pm, in Woonsocket.  In the morning, I get off somewhere around 7am, and drive back to Pawtucket to pick Jenn up around 8am.  So, as you can imagine, we are both busy, as she works 5 to 7 days, with one or two days off, and I work 4 days a week with 3 days off, in between.  As a result, we have one Wednesday off, together, which we call Team Glenney Wednesdays.  At the beginning of the baseball season, Jenn and I got tickets to the 4 games that fall on these days.

Here is where it gets interesting.  Our first game was on April 25th with a 12:05pm start this game was cold, but we stayed for the whole time, and the PawSox lost by a score of 6-8, after having been on a team record 9 game winning streak.  On our next Team Glenney Wednesday PawSox night, on May 9, 2012 it was rainy and cold so we didn't go, and the PawSox won by a score of 5-2.  That was night game with a 6:15 start, and we would have been out in the open with no shelter.  Then last night, which was an anniversary of sorts for us, we went to the PawSox night game with a 7:05pm start.  It was also cold, and we meant to bring a blanket but left it at home.  As a result we left the game during the 5th Inning with the PawSox losing by a score of 5-4, but they eventually won by a score of 6-5.

So, I'm wondering is there a "Glenney Curse" or what?  We go to the first game, sit the entire game, and the PawSox lose.  We skip the second game and the PawSox win.  While we are at third game the PawSox are loosing, but after we left they won the game.  So, what will the outcome be of the 4th game of the Team Glenney series be on July 18, 2012?  Will we stay the entire time, and break the curse with a PawSox win?  Anyways, whatever happens, we will be there, even if just for the first pitch, as it is PawSox Cap Night, and I collect baseball hats!

So, that's it in a nutshell.  From Pawtucket, Rhode Island, running and gunning, and driving them up and in, in Woonsocket on the overnight shift.  This is Lucky Bill, saying, "God Bless each and everyone of you."  Jenn and I are getting married in 52 more days, and we're counting them down, in a small beach ceremony surrounded by a few of our closest friends, and co-workers and others in Spirit, and I'll be smiling from ear to ear, because my Jenn is going to make me the HAPPIEST MAN ON THE EARTH.  I love you, Jenn!!!

Oh one more thing, we will be Honeymooning in Washington, D.C., and this Republican hopes to see a session of Congress while he's there.  Thank you, Rep. David Cicilline!
